  • High resolution STL is preferred
  • Also STEP, XT or IGS

How to save an STL file from different CAD software

AutoCAD
STEP 1 Your design must be a three-dimensional solid object to output an STL file.
STEP 2 Make sure the model is in positive space
STEP 3 Set Facetres to 10
STEP 4 At the command prompt type STLOUT
STEP 5 Select Objects
STEP 6 Choose Y for Binary
STEP 7 Choose Filename
Inventor
STEP 1 Save Copy As
STEP 2 Select STL
STEP 3 Choose Options >Set to High
STEP 4 Enter File Name
STEP 5 Save
Pro/E
STEP 1 File >Save a Copy
STEP 2 Set type to STL
STEP 3 Set chord height to 0. The field will be replaced by minimum acceptable value.
STEP 4 Set Angle Control to 1
STEP 5 Choose File Name
STEP 6 OK
