Keep dust off the quill of your FANUC SR-3iA in dusty cells, with a filtered front plate that stops particles before they reach the grease.
This version is built on our standard SR-3iA Scara Cover and Bellow Kit. The difference is the front plate: it plugs the open 6 mm breathing port at the top and adds four outlets, two on each side, each fitted with a muffler filter rated for 50 µm particles. Every breath the bellows take passes through a filter first.
That stops dust from mixing with the quill grease into an abrasive paste, which means cleaner bellows, less re-greasing and longer service intervals. Only the front plate changes, so it also works as a simple retrofit on an existing kit. For clean room cells, see the standard kit.
Available Versions
OPTION 01
Standard
The clean room kit. A Nylon-12 shield and a translucent bellow seal the upper housing and the quill, with a single 6 mm breathing port at the top.
OPTION 02
With Dust Filters
For dusty cells. A filtered front plate plugs the top port and breathes through four 50 µm filters, so dust never reaches the greased quill.

OPTION 03
Custom
Configured to your application: cover size, air fitting, cable gland and plug sizes, and a low moisture material for low dew point environments.

Keep Dust Off the Quill in Dusty Cells
In a dusty environment, the standard cover draws in unfiltered air, and the dust it carries ends up on the quill bellows. There it mixes with the quill grease into an abrasive paste that fouls the bellows and the quill. The dust filter version stops that at the source.
How Dust Gets In
The standard cover breathes through a single open 6 mm port at the top of the front plate. Air enters there, runs down the internal channel in the cover and reaches the bellows around the quill, shown as the red path in the section.
- As the quill moves, the bellows change volume and pump air in and out through this path.
- Nothing in the path stops particles, so every stroke brings in more dust.

A Filtered Front Plate
The dust filter version uses a new front plate that plugs the top 6 mm port and adds four outlets, two on each side. Each outlet carries a muffler filter rated for 50 µm particles, so all the air the bellows draw in passes through a filter first. Only the front plate changes, while the rest of the cover and the air channel stay as they are.

Filter Specification
| TYPE: | Muffler filter element (breather) |
| PARTICLE RATING: | 50 µm |
| QUANTITY PER COVER: | 4 |
| POSITION: | Front plate, 2 per side |
| FLOW DIRECTION: | Both ways, air is drawn in and pushed out as the quill strokes |
| COVER COLOR: | Black |
| BELLOW COLOR: | Translucent white |
A 50 µm rating stops coarse dust and chips. Finer dust can partly pass, so a finer filter element may be needed in very dusty cells. Tell us about your environment and we will recommend the right element.
Benefits
- Cleaner bellows and quill: dust is stopped before it reaches the grease, so it no longer turns into an abrasive paste
- Longer service intervals: less cleaning and re-greasing of the quill, and longer bellows life
- Low restriction: four filters in parallel give more filter area than a single port, so the bellows breathe freely and each filter takes longer to clog
- Balanced layout: two outlets per side keep the flow even and the cover symmetric
- Simple retrofit: only the front plate changes, the rest of the cover stays as it is

Why Seal a SCARA Robot
SCARA robots in packaging, electronics and assembly cells work close to airborne particles, process debris and compressed air lines. Without protection, the vertical quill and the internal moving parts stay exposed to that contamination.
A sealed cover and bellow keep those parts clean, which supports consistent operation, extends service life and reduces downtime. Typical applications include high speed packaging lines, electronics manufacturing cells, precision assembly and particle sensitive production.
If the cell is especially dusty, the dust filter version adds a second line of defence, and a custom build handles non-standard tubing, cabling or low dew point conditions.
